Earning Merit Badges at Disney
Disney offers a series of education classes for scout groups at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
The Disney Youth Education Series (YES) programs give students –and their teachers– a hands-on, educational adventure. This collection of guided field studies, available in Applied Sciences, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts and Leadership Development, is accredited, standards-based and designed to reinforce classroom lessons. Many are also complementary to the requirements of several Boy Scout Merit Badges.
YES classes are
- guided, in-park educational field studies
- offered year round, seven days a week
- available to elementary, middle, junior and senior high school students
Boy Scout Troops may participate in the YES programs by scheduling a group trip. Disney Cast Members are not Merit Badge counselors, therefore, arrangements for blue card sign off must be arranged by the troop independently.
These Merit Badges may be partially or fully completed by attending one or more classes in the Disney Youth Education Series program:
- American Culture
- American Heritage
- Chemistry
- Movie Making
- Nature
- Oceanography
- Photography
- Reptile and Amphibian Studies
Other Merit Badges to consider while in the Orlando area:
- Plant Science
- Space Exploration
